The Sandals You Need

The Sandals You Need

Clockwise from left: Zara / DV Dolce Vita / Zara / Zara / J.Crew / Steve Madden

I'm somewhat of a shoe hoarder. If you've seen my Instagram account, you have probably noticed that I utilize my floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to showcase my footwear instead of your typical books and knickknacks. I tend to wear my sandals into the ground so I've been on the lookout for new styles for this summer.

The six styles pictured above are staples that every girl can get a ton of use out of during the summer months. And they're all under $170! I have four weddings this summer so the nude heeled sandal will be great for not only those occasions but also for dressing up my favorite boyfriend jeans. Metallic flats spice up an otherwise bland outfit. And when it comes to leopard print, I'm not normally a fan but on a pair of cute sandals? Sign me up. Oh and every closet needs an embellished flat sandal AND a fun sexy heeled one. Duh.

Which are your favorite?

Have a great weekend!

One Piece, Three Ways: The Floral Blazer Part 3

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Even though I wish office dressing wasn't something I had to worry about on an almost-daily basis, it is. And considering my current job pays my bills, I'm more than happy to dress the part. But that doesn't mean I don't like to have a little fun with it! So for today's final installment of "How to Wear a Floral Blazer Three Ways", I opted for a job-friendly skirt and some neutral flats.

Blazer: Zara (HERE); Skirt: Anthropologie; Tank: AE; Necklace: Old (fun version HERE); Flats: Steve Madden

I also styled this adorable and versatile floral blazer for a wedding or cocktail party, as well as for a casual day of running errands.
Which outfit is your favorite? Have I talked you into buying a floral blazer yet?

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Recap

Monday, May 14, 2012

Hello! Here we are again. Another Monday, another weekend gone in a poof! Mine was spent celebrating three birthdays and Mother's Day, and spending as much time in the sun as possible. And of course, eating and drinking enough to kill a small horse. More on the eating portion tomorrow!

Unfortunately I forgot to bring my DSLR with me Saturday night so I decided to use my trusty iPhone to capture this outfit. (And PhotoGene to add the text... such a cool app!)

Love my top? You can get it in purple (and on sale) HERE. What about my necklace? Add it to your wardrobe by clicking HERE.

I hope your weekend and Mother's Day were fabulous and spent with your favorite people. See you tomorrow!

Peter Pan Collars

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Thank you, Maude Adams, for popularizing the adorable Peter Pan collar that we are seeing everywhere today.

Ms. Adams helped design her costume for her Broadway role as Peter in 1905. This style has come and gone throughout the years and now it seems it's here to stay. Well, stay as in for the next season or two.

I love the prim and proper vibe the Peter Pan collar gives off. Very schoolgirl. I wore this outfit to the office but have also worn it with a pair of leather shorts and some tights to rough it up a bit.

Blouse: Lucca Couture via Piperlime (on sale!); Pants: J.Crew Cafe Capri; Mary Janes: Steve Madden
Headband: F21; Watch: Michael Kors; Bangles: Alex & Ani

I'm also loving the detachable collars that are out right now. Stay tuned for a very exciting partnership featuring a couple gorgeous collar necklaces.

Floral & Faux Leather

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Just a quick post featuring my outfit from this past Friday night. The bf and I went to an early dinner and drinks and were home by 8. We spent the rest of the night catching up on our DVR. My idea of a perfect Friday!

Blazer: F21; Shirt: StyleMint "Georgia"; Leather leggings: H&M; Flats: Steve Madden
Watch: Michael Kors; Bangles: Alex & Ani

I can't believe how much use I've gotten out of my $20 faux leather leggings from H&M. I'd probably consider them one of my best fall/winter finds! Oh and please excuse my hair. I didn't realize how messy it was until I edited the pictures. Anyone else sick of the dry, winter weather & static?!

Until tomorrow!

Winter White + Touch of Leopard

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

So far I haven't made good on my resolution to take more pictures outside. It was COLD this weekend! But of course it's never too cold for a dress and tights. Beauty is pain, right? I was willing to suffer because this dress was just too cute to pass up.

Dress: Zara (on sale now!); Tights: Express; Shoes: Steve Madden (old);
Bangles: F21, Bobbles & Lace Boston, H&M

I love winter whites. It's so easy to get into a funk and wear dark colors during these cold, dreary months. The touch of leopard around the collar makes it fun and playful and instantly puts me in a better mood. I won't lie, I kind of feel like a figure skater this dress -- but I love silhouettes like these. They're flattering on all body types!

One Dress, Five Ways: Day Four

Thursday, January 12, 2012

For day four of my "One Dress, Five Ways" challenge, I slipped on my faux leather leggings and a couple red accents to give the dress a pop of color. Simple & classic with a bit of edge (thank you, leather leggings!)

Dress: Everly via BobbePin; Faux Leather Leggings: H&M; Flats: Steve Madden (similar)
Belt: Express (old); Watch: Michael Kors; Bangles: Alex & Ani

Check out my other outfits featuring the Everly Chevron Dress here, here & here. Check back tomorrow for my final ensemble!

Hello 2012!

Monday, January 2, 2012

I hope everyone's New Year was spent surrounded by the ones they love laughing, dancing and enjoying some bubbly. 2011 brought about a lot of (positive!) changes for me and I'm confident that 2012 has even more in store for me.

Blazer: Aqua via Bloomingdale's; Blouse: LOFT; Sequin shorts: Piperlime; Tights: HUE;
Mary Janes: Steve Madden; Watch: Michael Kors; Bangles: Alex & Ani

My New Year's Resolution is to be the best person I can be -- less judgemental, more positive, harder working, healthier. What is your New Year's Resolution?

Girls Night Out

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

I snapped these pictures on the way out the door this weekend to have dinner with two of my friends I haven't seen in a while. Is it just me, or should there be more hours in the day? Saturday and Sunday only, though!

Peplum Top: Modcloth; Skinny Jeans: Gap; Heels: Steve Madden (old); Bracelets: F21

I'm a sucker for anything peplum. And black and white. So this shirt was pretty much made for me. I was psyched when Modcloth restocked it!

Is it Friday yet?

Outfit Inspiration: Celebs in Maxi Skirts

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Like most of you out there, I often turn to movie stars, socialites and even the occasional Bravolebrity (i.e. Kyle from RHOBH or Rachel Zoe) for outfit inspiration.

I embraced maxi dresses over the summer and even wore them into the early fall with blazers. I wasn't drawn to maxi skirts until very recently and I figured they were more of a warm weather thing. (I live in Boston and the transition from summer to winter is depressingly fast.) But when I started seeing celebs pairing maxi skirts with leather jackets, I thought to myself, "why didn't I think of that?"

Well, thank you Nicole Richie and Glamour magazine for inspiring me to try new things.

I really loved how Glamour paired a red skirt with a black leather jacket but I figured I'd get more use out of a more neutral color so I ordered this one from Victoria's Secret. I love the look of this whole outfit. A very girly piece paired with something semi-unexpected to give it a little edge.

Maxi Skirt: Victoria's Secret; Jacket: LIT Boutique in Boston (last year, similar here) White T: F21;
Ruffle Booties: Steve Madden; Belt: Express (no longer available, similar here)

Want to "maximize" your wardrobe and snag a skirt like mine? Use coupon code FALL11 on the VS website and get $15 off $100, $30 off $150, $75 off $250 and $150 off $500!

Until tomorrow,

Outfit Inspiration: Seeing Red

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

One of this season's most doable trends right now is the colored cord. They can be skinny, boot cut, or flared, whatever you're comfortable in. But I promise, they flatter any body type. Plus there are so many great colors out there. Pink, purple, red, olive, rust, mustard, you name it! If you're not feeling very daring or don't think you could pull it off, start with a basic black or beige and work your way up.

I happen to be loving anything red right now. I paired my skinny bright red cords with a cream knit sweater. I love the different textures together.

Knit sweater: F21, Skinny cords: F21 ($20!!), Necklace: F21, Ballet flats: Steve Madden

Get flats like mine (or any other cute shoe!) for 20% off at shoes.com. Use coupon code SECRET20 at checkout!

Please excuse my corny poses, I am by no means a professional model and I'm still trying to figure out where to shoot the outfits so they look best. I welcome any feedback!

Thanks for checking me out and be sure to stay tuned!

Happy Tuesday (is it Friday yet?),
