I'm Baaaaack!

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

Well hellooo again! It's me, Lindsey. Remember me? That girl who used to blog about her outfits and general life experiences. It's been a solid four months since I've written and there sure have been a few exciting life experiences to catch you up on. Let's see, where should I start?

Hmm. Maybe I'll start with the fact that I got ENGAGED back in May! To the love of my life and best friend of almost six years. He surprised me with a family heirloom so beautiful that four months later I still can't keep my eyes off it. So far we've picked a date and a venue, and I found THE perfect dress. Bridesmaids shopping will take place this weekend, although I'm 99% sure I already know what I want them to wear (think mix & match, and don't worry I have a power point presentation to take to each appointment... psycho much? Yep.) I plan to share a few other details throughout the planning process so stay tuned!

Also, work has been nuts lately. I've been contributing to the Rue La La blog called The Style Guide since March, so any leftover creative juice has been dedicated to my weekly posts over there. We also had what felt like 57 weddings, bachelorette parties and showers to attend this summer (all fun, not complaining!) so between that and work and trying not to get sick, I haven't had a moment to post. And honestly haven't had the motivation. Still, no excuse to leave my friends over here hanging.

While my plan is to jump back into blogging full force, I know that might be setting myself up for failure. Anyone else who works in retail knows that we are about to head into Q4 aka holiday season. Which basically translates to "that time where all you do is work, eat, and sleep, but only if you're really lucky." So wish me luck! And I'll be sure to update when I can.

In other fun news, BostInno did a little writeup on what's inside my closet today. Check it out here

See you again soon!

The Sandals You Need

The Sandals You Need

Clockwise from left: Zara / DV Dolce Vita / Zara / Zara / J.Crew / Steve Madden

I'm somewhat of a shoe hoarder. If you've seen my Instagram account, you have probably noticed that I utilize my floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to showcase my footwear instead of your typical books and knickknacks. I tend to wear my sandals into the ground so I've been on the lookout for new styles for this summer.

The six styles pictured above are staples that every girl can get a ton of use out of during the summer months. And they're all under $170! I have four weddings this summer so the nude heeled sandal will be great for not only those occasions but also for dressing up my favorite boyfriend jeans. Metallic flats spice up an otherwise bland outfit. And when it comes to leopard print, I'm not normally a fan but on a pair of cute sandals? Sign me up. Oh and every closet needs an embellished flat sandal AND a fun sexy heeled one. Duh.

Which are your favorite?

Have a great weekend!

Arbonne Party with the Girls

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Arbonne FC5 hand cream; Arbonne RE9 Advanced skincare line: Smoothing Facial Cleanser, Regenerating Toner, Intensive Renewal Serum, Corrective Eye Cream, Restorative Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen, Extra Moisture Restorative Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen, Night Repair Cream; Makeup Primer; Arbonne RE9 Lift Gel

Let's get real for a moment. Like real real. Are you good to your skin? Do you understand the importance of having a good skincare regimen? If the answer is no, don't worry. Up until recently, my skincare routine consisted of face wash from CVS, whatever moisturizer I grabbed during my early morning fog, and the occasional anti-aging serum at night. I was always blessed with fairly well-behaved skin and good genes so I never took skincare that seriously. But as I creep closer to 30, I've started to notice my skin acting up a bit (what is UP with hormonal acne at 29 years old?!) I started researching different lines and became frustrated with all the info out there. Not to mention how do you know what reviews to trust and who to completely ignore?

In the midst of my confusion, my friend Lydia reached out to me to see if I would be interested in trying skincare from her company, Arbonne. 100% vegan and gluten free? All-natural and derived from plants? Sounded too good to be true. But I was desperate for some change and figured I'd give it a shot.

Fast forward six weeks and I am acne free and my skin has never looked or felt better. And I'm not just saying that. The RE9 line from Arbonne is a complete anti-aging skincare set that not only feels good going on, but actually works. I even had my friends test it out just to be sure. Thank you to Elena & Emma for being my guinea pigs!

We sipped on some specialty cocktails (created using this pomegranate fizz, water, and vodka, topped with some pineapple orange juice... YUM!) and tested out the products. The feedback was great and both left excited to continue using the line knowing that they were taking the right steps to preserve their youthful skin and prevent future damage.

I could go on and on about this line but instead of bombarding you with info, feel free to contact me with any questions. If you're interested in shopping Arbonne, click here.

For those of you in the Boston area, stay tuned for your own opportunity to try this fun line!

Off Duty

Friday, April 25, 2014

Jacket: Zara; Chambray Shirt: J.Crew Factory; Jeans: James via RueLaLa; Flats: Zara; Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim; Sunglasses: Rayban

There's something about the color yellow that just screams "spring". I wore this outfit last weekend while my mom and sister were in town from New York. We wandered the streets of Back Bay, had a nice little lunch and did some shopping. The denim-on-denim look is something you can usually find me bumming around in when I'm outside of the office. Chic but comfy! What's your weekend uniform?

Simplicity

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Crop Top: Zara; Textured Skirt: Topshop; Heels: Fendi via RueLaLa; Necklace: Chanel; Lipstick: MAC Snob

Yay for warmer weather and the ability to FINALLY wear the skirt that's been sitting in my closet for months now. I love that the black and white trend is still big right now because it's been my go-to color combo for as long as I have been able to dress myself. The full skirt/crop top duo is flattering on so many different body types -- who said you need abs to rock it?

Blue & Yellow

Blazer: Zara (old); Tank: Yumi Kim via RueLaLa; Boyfriend Jeans: BlankNYC; Heels: Zara (old)

I'm baaaaack! Have you missed me? I've certainly missed you. After a long and brutal winter, I'm finally back to posting. If you follow me on Twitter, you already know that I recently transitioned into a new position at Rue La La. For those of you who don't know, I'm now the Assistant Fashion Editor for Men's and Travel and it's been incredibly fun, hectic and so much more my cup of tea. While my new position has been so much for fulfilling, a piece of me was still missing when I wasn't sharing my favorite outfits every few days.

So anyways -- onto the outfit. I thought this was fitting to post today considering it's Marathon Monday. And while I'll be spending the day at my desk, my heart will be on Boylston Street with all the runners, survivors, fans and First Responders. The past year has proven that we are all Boston Strong and I couldn't be more proud to call this city (and Back Bay specifically) my home.

Army Green

Wednesday, February 5, 2014

Sweater: Vince via RueLaLa; Jeans: James via RueLaLa; Booties: Seychelles via RueLaLa; Necklace: BaubleBar; Clutch: Alexander Wang; Rings: Stella & Dot; Nails: OPI You Don't Know Jacques (old standby)

I know what you're thinking. Rue La La gives this bish free clothing. Nope, I just have a serious shopping problem (and with the employee discount, WHO WOULDN'T?!) These pics were snapped last Saturday when it was a balmy 43 degrees, hence the no jacket. I felt so "Top Gun" in this outfit with my aviators and my army green pants. Sidenote: these jeans are THE most comfortable pair I've ever owned. They're cut well, made of the perfect soft denim and have some stretch to them without losing shape. Let's just say they made an appearance Superbowl Sunday as well.
