Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!

Monday, December 31, 2012

As we approach a brand new year, it's only natural to reflect on what the past year has handed us. I sit here, writing this post, thankful for all of the wonderful things that came into my life this year. A new job that I love, new friends that have already turned into family, and many, many other things that would bore you beyond belief. Like most people, I've also had my fair share of pain over the last 12 months. But how's that saying go? "In order to make it to the rainbow, you must make it through the rain." Corny? Possibly. But it really resonates with me lately. I'm a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason. It's hard to sit back and let life happen as it may (and I'm certainly guilty of trying to control every aspect of mine), but for 2013, I hope to enjoy every step of the way. The good times and the bad. And I wish every one of you the happiest and healthiest of years. Thanks for stopping by every so often to check out my humble little blog. Now that the craziness of the holidays is behind us, I hope to get back into posting more regularly. Be safe tonight and Happy New Year!

Here are a few of my favorite shots from twenty twelve

See you in 2013!

Holiday Plaid + Sequins

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Shirt: J.Crew (similar); Skirt: Ann Taylor; Belt: Express (old); Tights: Hue; Heels: Charles David; Clutch: F21; Necklace: F21

I guess there are worse things than having multiple holiday parties to attend, right? Lately I've actually been looking forward to Mondays (I know, what's wrong with me?!) because it means I can get through my work day and potentially go to bed at a decent time. Working in retail means this time of year is insanely busy and the days have been blending into one another. That's great for getting to the end goal of a little vacation time with the fam, but really bad for sleeping schedules and stress levels.

Last week Rue La La had their annual holiday party and we all got to enjoy a night off to dance and let loose. While some let loose a little more than others, it was a night enjoyed by all. Our dress code was "festive casual" so I decided to mix a little holiday plaid with some festive sequins. Add a red lip and a pearl necklace and voila! I was instantly back in the Christmas spirit.

My fellow blogger friend Linds opted for another holiday color scheme I love, white and blue. How stunning does she look?

Dress, shoes & clutch, all TJ Maxx (the girl can find some amazing deals!)

What's your go-to holiday look? Are you more of a traditional green and red gal, or are you more in line with the colors in Lindsay's look?

Happy Holidays loves! Safe travels and enjoy the time off with your family and friends.

Black + White

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Top: Zara (recent); Velvet Pants: Paige; Heels: J.Crew; Bag: Zara (old); Watch: Michael Kors "Runway"; Nails: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

Black and white is my go-to color combination. It's classic, chic, and looks good on everyone. I love the leather details on this top. As seen in my last few posts, I'm slightly obsessed with all things {faux} leather right now. Just picked up some fab H&M skinnies for $35 that I can't wait to post!

Winterized Leather Peplum

Monday, December 3, 2012

Jacket: J.Crew Factory; Vegan Leather Peplum: Piperlime; Blouse: J.Crew; Jeans: J Brand; Heels: Zara; Bag: Chanel; Nails: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

Winter is in full swing so lately I've been trying to find ways to get use out of my summer and fall pieces without freezing to death. The answer: layers. Instead of throwing a blazer over my leather peplum top (last seen HERE), I added a simple blouse underneath and can now enjoy it for months to come. Plus the contrast between the soft girly blouse and the "tough" leather top is fun.

Happy Monday!
