A Little Flounce Never Hurt Anybody...

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Dress: LOFT; Blazer: Zara; Bag: Michael Kors; Sandals: Dolce Vita; Sunnies: Chloe

There's a couple things I love about this dress. The color block (and I thought I was over color block!), the drop waist 1920s feel, and the overall cuteness of it. I mean, anything with a little flounce puts a little extra pep in my step. Does it do that to you? In retrospect, it probably would have looked much better with heels. But truth be told, I like to limit long days at the office in heels to one day a week. And today just wasn't that day.

Even though I was loving that today was a bit on the summery side, I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to pair this with opaque tights and booties in a few short weeks.

Summer Brights

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

Quick colorful post for you today! I am totally embracing all the bright summer colors before my wardrobe slowly morphs into fall neutrals and then into winter drab. C'est la vie!

Seeing Red

Monday, July 23, 2012

Noticing a trend with my summer outfits? I'm slightly obsessed with peplum (as documented HERE and HERE) and scallops (last seen HERE). One of my favorite things about being a girl is being able to wear cute detailed pieces. These red shorts are adorable on their own, but when paired with an eyelet peplum top, the level of femininity skyrockets. I kind of felt like a 50s housewife in this outfit. Anyone else getting that vibe? Maybe it's the puckering on the top or the fact that it sort of looks like an apron. Either way, I embraced it.

Shorts: J.Crew; Tank: Anthropologie (old, cute version HERE); Wedges: Michael Kors; Bracelets: Stella & Dot, Alex & Ani; Sunnies: Chloe; Polish: Essie Tart Deco

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Colorburst

Thursday, June 21, 2012

It's the little details in an outfit that make it truly fun to wear. This ensemble is a mish mash of textures and colors that I threw together for a trip to my favorite BBQ joint. And somehow, it works. Handkerchief hem? Check. Girly eyelet shorts? Check. Color burst raffia clutch? Check. And then to top it all off, I added some snakeskin with my sandals.

Tank: Piperlime (last seen HERE); Shorts: Boutique in Salem, MA (similar HERE); Clutch: Mar y Sol (HERE); Sandals: Sam Edelman; Bangles: Pop up shop in Boston; Sunnies: Chloe

One Piece, Three Ways: The Floral Blazer Part 2

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

In part two of "How to Wear a Floral Blazer Three Ways," I decided to show you how to dress it down. In part one on Monday, you saw me dress it up with a simple, colorful dress and some heels. Today I decided to do something completely different.

Blazer: Zara (HERE); Striped Tee: H&M, Shorts: A&F (old); Sandals: Zara (HERE); Watch: La Mer; Sunnies: Chloe

I added the striped shirt underneath a) because I love mixing prints and b) because it's a t-shirt and t-shirts are comfy. Add a pop of color in a pair of flat sandals and you're good to go. The end result is casual but polished, exactly the look I was going for!

Would you wear a floral blazer like this?

Check back tomorrow for my final installment of One Piece, Three Ways!

A Walk in the Park

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Top: LIT Boutique (last summer); Shorts: LOFT; Shoes: Zara (HERE); Watch: La Mer (HERE); Sunnies: Chloe

WEIRD! It's those hot pink Zara sandals again. Making yet another appearance in an outfit this week (see Tuesday's post HERE). After the wedding in Salem, MA on Friday night, we spent part of Saturday morning/afternoon brunching and shopping. It was insanely humid that day so comfortable clothing was a must. It's also a must if you plan to indulge in a 2 lb. strawberry and nutella crepe... which I definitely did not do.

Sunday Stroll

Monday, May 21, 2012

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. We attended a fun backyard birthday party at a friend's house and on the way home found a cute little park alongside a river. The sun was still shining and we weren't yet ready to go home so we stopped to snap some photos and take a quick stroll.

As much as I love backyard barbecues, there's nothing worse than indulging in your favorite foods (and plenty of birthday cake) and then feeling uncomfortable and hot in constricting clothing. I wanted to dress for comfort without sacrificing style, so I opted for this white linen shift dress and some basic flats. Please excuse the wrinkles -- linen doesn't exactly behave well after having been worn for several hours.

Dress: Michael Kors via RueLaLa; Flats: Sam Edelman (HERE); Purse: Michael Kors; Straw Hat: Gap Outlet; Sunnies: Chloe; Watch: La Mer (HERE); Bangles: Alex & Ani

How did you spend your Sunday? Is it just me or did this weekend absolutely fly by?

Until tomorrow!

Easy Sunday

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

J and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather on Sunday and headed down to one of our favorite spring/summer eateries -- Tavern on the Water in Charlestown. Enjoying a tall Dark & Stormy while overlooking Boston Harbor is my idea of a perfect day. It's still a bit cool in the breeze so I opted for a blouse and my comfy J.Crew cafe capris (the perfect alternative to jeans).

 Blouse: Yumi Kim; Capris: J.Crew; Neon cap toe flats: Ann Taylor; Watch: Michael Kors;
Bracelet: c/o Christina M. Boutique; Rings: Tiffany, vintage; Sunnies: Chloe

Unfortunately my shoes are sold out online but there are still a couple other cute colors available! Plus they're 30% off right now! Check them out HERE.

Like my capris? Get them dirt cheap! $50 + an extra 30% off using coupon code MUSTHAVE. Order them HERE.
