Holiday Plaid + Sequins

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Shirt: J.Crew (similar); Skirt: Ann Taylor; Belt: Express (old); Tights: Hue; Heels: Charles David; Clutch: F21; Necklace: F21

I guess there are worse things than having multiple holiday parties to attend, right? Lately I've actually been looking forward to Mondays (I know, what's wrong with me?!) because it means I can get through my work day and potentially go to bed at a decent time. Working in retail means this time of year is insanely busy and the days have been blending into one another. That's great for getting to the end goal of a little vacation time with the fam, but really bad for sleeping schedules and stress levels.

Last week Rue La La had their annual holiday party and we all got to enjoy a night off to dance and let loose. While some let loose a little more than others, it was a night enjoyed by all. Our dress code was "festive casual" so I decided to mix a little holiday plaid with some festive sequins. Add a red lip and a pearl necklace and voila! I was instantly back in the Christmas spirit.

My fellow blogger friend Linds opted for another holiday color scheme I love, white and blue. How stunning does she look?

Dress, shoes & clutch, all TJ Maxx (the girl can find some amazing deals!)

What's your go-to holiday look? Are you more of a traditional green and red gal, or are you more in line with the colors in Lindsay's look?

Happy Holidays loves! Safe travels and enjoy the time off with your family and friends.

Floral Dress Remix

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Dress: Zara; Jacket: F21 (similar HERE); Shoes: Ann Taylor (fall version HERE); Clutch: Madison Elizabeth via Etsy; Belt: J.Crew

This dress has gotten so much use over the past few months -- wedding, bridal shower, work-related event -- you name it, I've probably worn this dress to it. I was rotating my summer clothes to the hall closet this past weekend (insert sad face here), and found myself having a hard time putting this one away. So I decided to make it work one last time, this time for fall. I "roughed" it up a bit with a cargo jacket and a belt but still kept it girly with the pops of pink. What do you think? How do you make your favorite summer dresses transition into fall?

Until tomorrow!

Not So Girly Girl

Thursday, May 17, 2012

I'm not your typical girly girl. I love heels, ribbons, ruffles and anything with a feminine shape. But then there are days when my feet can't stand to be at an awkward angle a moment longer, days where tight pants seem like cruel and unusual punishment, and days where I'm drawn to pieces that could easily be dubbed tomboy.

Case in point: this Forever21 military jacket. I could have easily paired it with my favorite boyfriend jeans and really gone to town with the whole "I'm a dude today" look, but instead I wanted to strike the perfect balance between both feminine and masculine. So I paired my jacket with a hot pink skirt. I mean really, what's more feminine than that?

Jacket: F21 (available in navy HERE); Skirt: J.Crew (in denim and on sale HERE); Tank: Gap; Shoes: Ann Taylor

This ended up being the perfect outfit for frolicking down by the water, grabbing lunch outdoors and running errands. What do you reach for when you go casual? Would you wear a look like this?

Easy Sunday

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

J and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather on Sunday and headed down to one of our favorite spring/summer eateries -- Tavern on the Water in Charlestown. Enjoying a tall Dark & Stormy while overlooking Boston Harbor is my idea of a perfect day. It's still a bit cool in the breeze so I opted for a blouse and my comfy J.Crew cafe capris (the perfect alternative to jeans).

 Blouse: Yumi Kim; Capris: J.Crew; Neon cap toe flats: Ann Taylor; Watch: Michael Kors;
Bracelet: c/o Christina M. Boutique; Rings: Tiffany, vintage; Sunnies: Chloe

Unfortunately my shoes are sold out online but there are still a couple other cute colors available! Plus they're 30% off right now! Check them out HERE.

Like my capris? Get them dirt cheap! $50 + an extra 30% off using coupon code MUSTHAVE. Order them HERE.

Until tomorrow!
