Shades of Fall

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Jacket: Calvin Klein via RueLaLa.com; Sweater: Free People; Jeans: James via RueLaLa.com; Booties: Sam Edelman; Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim; Scarf: Bobbles & Lace

Fall is probably my favorite time of year in New England. We were especially lucky this year with a long and mild fall... plenty of cool days to enjoy my cozy autumn layers but also plenty of warmer, sunny days perfect for outdoor activities like apple picking and biking. This sweater and jeans combo is my go-to September through November. Comfortable, cute and casual.

Leaf Peeping

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Kimono: ASOS; Tee: Gap; Jeans: 7FAM; Boots: Tory Burch; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Nails: Essie "Mind Your Mittens"

I took a quick trip home to Central New York this past weekend to visit the fam and peep some leaves. Unfortunately most of the leaves were past peak but the view of the Adirondacks from atop McCauley Mountain more than made up for it. Fall in CNY is one of my favorite things in the world. And this bonafide city girl never forgets her rural roots. Anytime I'm feeling overwhelmed or anxious, a trip home is the perfect remedy.

Girly & Grunge

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Jacket: F21 (old); Sweatshirt: Old Navy; Skirt: Piperlime (last year); Tights: Spanx via RueLaLa; Booties: Seychelles via RueLaLa; Watch: Michael Kors "Runway"; Bangles: Alex & Ani; Nails: Essie "Skirting the Issue"

When I ordered this jacket from Forever 21 well over a year ago, I never imagined how much use I would get out of it. It's perfect with boyfriend jeans and chucks for Saturday morning errands or a skirt and girly details for a day at the office. I love the little embellishments on this sweatshirt (which, might I add, is on sale for $17!) paired with my grungy jacket. The juxtaposition is both fun and functional... who wants to look completely pulled together anyway?

Work Appropriate

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Dress: Zara (old); Chambray: J.Crew; Heels: Pour la Victoire via RueLaLa; Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim; Rings: Stella & Dot; Nails: Essie "Skirting the Issue"

I ordered this dress last spring (yet another online impulse buy...ugh) and ended up majorly disappointed in the fact that it was way too low cut for my liking. Thirty days passed and I realized I forgot to return it so into the donation pile it went... Until this past weekend when I decided to give it another shot. I layered my trusty chambray underneath for a work appropriate but playful outfit perfect for our mid 70-degree weather today.

Sweater Weather

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Sweater Coat: BB Dakota c/o Crush Boutique gift card; T-shirt: VS; Jeans: James via RueLaLa; Boots: Tory Burch; Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim; Hat: H&M

This time of year brings out the indecisive side of my personality. The "I really don't want summer to end" part of me battles daily with the "I'm dying to wear this new sweater today" part. Well on this particular occasion, the latter won. It was just chilly enough on the waterfront that I didn't look too ridiculous in my getup. Do you have a fall item you can't wait to wear? If so, what is it? By the way: you can thank the song "Sweater Weather" by The Neighbourhood for the oh-so-fitting title of today's blog post. So good!

Thanks Jordan for the pics!

Graphic Sweater Remix + A Special Guest

Monday, November 5, 2012

Jacket: J.Crew; Sweater: J.Crew; Gingham Shirt: J.Crew Factory; Jeans: Gap (old); Boots: Ralph Lauren; Watch: Michael Kors "Runway"; Bangles: Alex & Ani

How is it already Monday again? This weekend absolutely flew by! I spent it up in Maine visiting my cousin, her husband and their three kiddos. One of which helped direct this photo session. Her name is Libby and she's a little fashionista in training. She makes a guest appearance below -- no attitude on that child, huh? She's a riot.

This sweater has been on repeat as of late. It's the perfect casual weekend piece but I also can't wait to pair it with a circle skirt, tights & heels for a day at the office.

Future Fashion Blogger, Libby Lou

A special thank you shout out to my cousin Kim, the super-talented photographer who snapped these shots. She has a great eye and is also a ton of fun to work with. Who knows, you might even see a giveaway coming up on the blog soon!

Calm Before the Storm

Monday, October 29, 2012

Blazer: Zara; Cords: F21 (similar HERE); Tank: AE; Heels: Charles David; Necklace: Stella & Dot; Ring: Rue La La; Nails: Essie "Chinchilly"

Is it just me or is the media acting like Hurricane Sandy could quite possibly be the end of the world? With all the hype surrounding the approaching storm, I made sure to spend some time outdoors before battening down the hatches and riding it out. The end result were these pictures taken just moments before it started to rain. I actually really like the contrast of my bright red pants and the gloomy grey skies.

Stay safe New Englanders!

Peplum Stripes

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Peplum Jacket: Zara; Tank: AE; Jeans: Gap; Shoes: Target (similar HERE); Watch: Michael Kors "Runway"; Bracelets: Alex & Ani, Stella & Dot; Rings: Stella & Dot; Sunnies: Chloe

Wow, I really have a lot of peplum tops. I'm interested to know, how many is too many in one closet? Because I'm pretty sure I'm there. Well, I hope you're not too sick of them yet because I actually have one or two more. A quick word about these loafers -- how cute are they? They're a total copy on the ridiculously expensive Lanvin ones for a smidgen of the price. Talk about a steal!

A special thank you to my wonderful mother for being my photog for the day!

Essie Fall 2012

Essie Fall 2012

One of the best things about transitioning from summer to fall is being able to incorporate darker colors into my wardrobe. Essie's new collection has me wishing August away and diving head first into the warm jewel tones of autumn. Whether you fancy a gorgeous oxblood shade on your fingers or lean more towards a neutral "greige", there's something for everybody.

I personally can't wait to pair jade nails with maroon skinny jeans and a beige leather jacket, similar to the picture I created above.

What color are you particularly stoked about wearing this season?
