Leaf Peeping

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Kimono: ASOS; Tee: Gap; Jeans: 7FAM; Boots: Tory Burch; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Nails: Essie "Mind Your Mittens"

I took a quick trip home to Central New York this past weekend to visit the fam and peep some leaves. Unfortunately most of the leaves were past peak but the view of the Adirondacks from atop McCauley Mountain more than made up for it. Fall in CNY is one of my favorite things in the world. And this bonafide city girl never forgets her rural roots. Anytime I'm feeling overwhelmed or anxious, a trip home is the perfect remedy.

Packing Tips for Winter Vacations

If you're lucky enough to be escaping the cold winter weather for tropical white sands and blue water, here are a few tips to make traveling a little less stressful.

I used to be one of those girls who packed my entire wardrobe and all of my favorite items, only to arrive at my destination and still have absolutely nothing to wear. Now that I'm older and wiser, I pack only a carry on with a few carefully thought-out pieces. It only takes one vacation without your luggage to realize that carry ons are the way to go.

Pick pieces that can be mixed and matched
A simple white button down can be worn with denim cutoffs for shopping & sightseeing, over a bikini for a day at the beach, or over the maxi dress for cooler nights.

Pack travel-sized toiletries
Vacation is supposed to be all about relaxing. There is no need to bring the hair straightener or the huge makeup bag. Necessities only!

Roll clothing to reduce wrinkling
Who wants to iron clothes when they're on vacation? Avoid wrinkles and big creases by rolling items instead of folding.

Store bathing suits in ziploc bags
Each bathing suit gets a bag so separates aren't lost. And if they're still damp when you pack to head home, the rest of your clothes aren't compromised.

Items in this set:
Alice + Olivia Strapless Maxi Dress
Old Navy White Camp Shirt (Save 20% w/ coupon code ONHURRY20)
DvF Beach Caftan
American Eagle Denim Cutoffs (Get 40% off w/ coupon code 39427841)
Juicy Couture Ruffle Bikini
Mara Hoffman Bikini
Mar Y Sol Crocheted Carryall
Forever21 Floppy Hat
Bliss Lemon & Sage Travel Pack (Free rush shipping w/ coupon code NMQUICK)
J.Crew Glitter & Leather Sandals (Save 30% + free shipping w/ coupon code SNOWMAN)

Winter Must-Have: Fair Isle Leggings

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

One of my favorite purchases so far this fall has to be my fair isle leggings. They're cute and cozy and perfect for the fast-approaching cold weather.

I'm heading home to Upstate NY today to spend Thanksgiving with the family and have a decently long drive ahead of me. Instead of wearing the yoga pants I typically wear during long drives, I opted for this comfy yet stylish outfit. Now I won't be ashamed to get out of my car at the rest stop.

Sweater dress: Victoria's Secret; Fair isle leggings: F21; Socks: Club Monaco;
Wedge Booties: Urban Outfitters; Bangles: Alex & Ani

What is your favorite travel outift? Are you more of a sacrifice comfort for fashion type?

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with their friends and family!

Safe travels!
