T-shirt: Brian Litchenberg; Pants: Piperlime; Blazer: Zara; Clutch: Alexander Wang; Necklace: BaubleBar; Heels: Zara (old); Rings: Stella & Dot, BaubleBar; Lips: Nars Volga

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with my cat. A crazy cat lady, you could say. Luckily I only have one cat so it's a little more socially acceptable (at least in my own head). Anyway, when I spotted this tee, I knew I HAD to have it. I paired it with THE most comfortable pants I've ever owned along with a blazer and heels to dress it up. Side note: I'm in love with the idea of jazzed-up sweatpants/slouchy pants. Best. Trend. Ever.

Thank you Jordan for the pics!

BostInno Fall Lookbook

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Leather Peplum Top: Bobbles & Lace; Collared Blouse: J.Crew Factory; Jeans: JBrand; Necklace: Bobbles & Lace; Clutch: Bobbles & Lace; Wedges: Pour la Victoire via RueLaLa; Rings: Stella & Dot

When BostInno asked me to put together a look for fall that I'd wear for a night out in Back Bay, I knew right away I wanted to incorporate my favorite fall staple: leather (faux, vegan or the real deal!) I softened the look up by adding a white blouse underneath and a detailed necklace. My wedges make navigating the brick and cobblestone sidewalks a cinch! Head over to BostInno.com to see MY LOOK and check out the full Fall Lookbook!

Leather Repeat

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Blouse: Zara; Shorts: French Connection; Heels: Shoemint (old); Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim Medium Pashli; Necklaces: Stella & Dot, Madewell; Rings: Topshop, Stella & Dot

These shorts have been on repeat as of late. Why? Because they're the perfect summer to fall transitional piece. Once the temps dip a bit lower, all I have to do is add a fun pair of tights and a chunky sweater and head on my way. Oh, and I may or may not have a new friend named Pashli. Isn't she cute?

Foodie Friday: Marliave

Friday, August 23, 2013

The "Tres Curieux" cocktail -- potent and tasty, just how I like them.

The first stop for J and me on the Restaurant Week itinerary was Marliave, located near Downtown Crossing (10 Bosworth Street, to be exact). An interesting little place, tucked away at the end of an alley next to the Nine Zero Hotel. I had lunch here a few years ago so I already knew that the interior was basically a nod to an old-school train station of sorts with its white subway tile walls and black furniture and marble bartop. I knew that the French onion soup with short ribs was to die for. But what I did not know was that the rest of the menu, drinks included, was literally mind blowing. Prepare to drool...

First course -- Macaroni & Cheese. It was a Sunday, and what do you crave more on a Sunday than comfort food? And what qualifies as comfort food more than a big, soupy bowl of insanely delicious macaroni and cheese? Nothing. The answer is nothing. The house-cut ziti made this dish, hands down. It was perfectly al dente with a hint of black truffle. Tons of butter and cream and gooey cheese put this over the top (which in my humble opinion, is what mac & cheese should be every time.)

And because J and I can never get enough cheese, we ordered the Rarebits. Bacon, beer, and cheese melted in a skillet with toasted bread for dipping? Yes please!

Little confession to make: I'm kiiiiind of a glutton for punishment. I have that extra cocktail at the tail end of a girls night. I stay up a little later than I should during the week. And I order the French onion soup a la carte because apparently two heavy appetizers for two people isn't enough.

After the first course, I was convinced the rest of the meal would go downhill from there. How can you outdo what's pictured above? It seemed impossible. But sure enough, the second courses did not disappoint. Brick chicken on top of a bed of creamy risotto. Delicately crisped skin that exploded with flavor with every bite. My mouth is watering as I write this.

I went with the old standby: steak frites. But these were served with a nice dollop of Gorgonzola butter on top. The fries were house-cut and cooked to perfection -- you know, that hard-to-achieve crispy on the outside yet chewy on the inside kind of perfection. Now I must admit that (shockingly!) we were too full to eat our dessert so we had them box it up for us. J ordered the butterscotch pudding with candied ginger (YUM!) and I ordered the chocolate melting cake with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. A few hours after we rolled (literally) out of Marliave, I tossed the cake in the micro for a few seconds, topped it with the ice cream, and had the perfect ending to a rather gluttonous day. Ahh, if only I could eat like this all the time.

Until next time!

The Bag Lady

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Dress: ASOS (on sale!); Heels: Kelsi Dagger; Bag: Vintage Louis Vuitton Pochette Twin PM; Watch: Michael Kors; Bangles: Alex & Ani; Rings: Tiffany and vintage; Nails: Muchi Muchi

Restaurant Week is in full swing here in Boston and it's a great opportunity to try new spots at a good price. It's also a good time to wear the mumu and/or paper bag inspired dress that hangs so perfectly and makes any frame look svelte.

Thank you J for the wonderful pics!

Around Boston: Be Styled Blow Dry Bar

Monday, August 19, 2013

Let me set the scene for you: It was a warm Saturday morning. I stumbled into Be Styled Blow Dry Bar after a girls outing the night before. A fairly tame girls night, I might add, but still... I was not looking my best. I knew I was in good hands though, as soon as I walked in the door. The immaculately decorated space in Chestnut Hill was both welcoming and stylish; and everyone was SO friendly and accommodating. Instead of a typical chair-facing-mirror setup, you face one of the large TVs built into the wall. Watching a playful romantic comedy while sipping on a mimosa? Now that's my idea of a good Saturday morning. (I would have finished my mimosa had I not sworn off Prosecco a few hours before my appointment... so luckily they also had fresh juices, cappuccino, coffee and water to choose from.) I went with the "Be Soft" style from their blow dry menu. My stylist Jen gave me bouncy, voluminous curls. It's funny how a fabulous hairstyle can breathe new life into you. OK, I'm sure the nice little head massage had a little something to do with that too.

I got so many compliments on my hair that day and night. I even managed to make my blow dry last a few extra days by spraying a little dry shampoo at my roots and re-volumizing with my finger tips.

If you're ever in need of a quick blow out, a relaxing day with the girls, or a hairdo for a special occasion, definitely check Be Styled out. They have a location in Wellesley and one opening this fall in Lynnfield. I'll be back soon

xoxo,

Blazer: Zara; Tank: Zara; Jeans: Hudson via Rue La La; Heels: Zara (old); Necklaces: INPINK and Stella & Dot; Glasses: Vizio Optic; Photos by Stephanie Peterson

Today's post is a twofer. It's an outfit post AND a preview of the Vizio Optic Lookbook photo shoot that I participated in a few weeks ago. How amaze are the blue frames I'm wearing above? I actually need to schedule an eye appointment (oh, the joy of aging!) and am thinking about taking these beauts home with me. What do you think?

I had so much fun shooting with Stephanie and I cannot wait to see the finished product! I'll be sure to share it here on L's Fashion Dish as well.
